Bio

Angela Salvaggione

Teacher - I've been teaching music for 30 years, teaching my first students when I was 13 years old. After graduating from DePaul University with a degree in Music Education and studying two primary instruments, piano and bassoon, I have focused on private teaching. I currently maintain a private studio in the Plainfield/Joliet area, primarily teaching piano, bassoon, flute, clarinet, saxophone. I can also teach beginning students of brass instruments.

Composer - I have written many solo bassoon, clarinet, piano and flute pieces and etudes for my students. My instrumental compositions and arrangements for small ensembles include works for bassoon quartet, woodwind quintet, double reed choir, and mixed duets. Many of my piano arrangements are included in The Pilgrim Press' "Sing! Prayer and Praise" songbook. The majority of my vocal music writing has been liturgical in nature, including over 50 psalms, one of which was sung throughout the Diocese of Joliet in 2010.

Performer - I am active in the musical community of the Joliet area, playing piano for two area churches. In addition, I have been playing piano for several area theater groups, including The Chicago Red Line, Bolingbrook Theater on the Hill, Joliet Drama Guild, and Curtain Call Theater of New Lenox. In September 2013, I joined Joliet Symphony Orchestra as Principal Bassoonist as well as performing with and arranging for the JSO Woodwind Quintet.
